Effective, DIY Bathroom Cleaning Solutions

Our bathrooms are the place where we all go to get clean. We bathe, shower, wash our hands, and shave there. The word clean is naturally associated with this space because of that. Yet, it tends to be one of the dirtiest places in our homes. That is because all of the dirt and grime that we wash off our bodies ends up in the toilet, tub, and sink. We all know that cleaning our bathrooms is a normal house chore. It needs to be routinely done. To achieve the deepest cleans, we need cleaning solutions to help us get rid of tough messes and stains. You can use store-bought cleaners, or you can make at-home solutions with everyday ingredients you have at home. Below, we will give you some ideas on where you can use homemade solutions and how to make those solutions for that area:

  • Tile Grout: Spray undiluted white vinegar onto tile grout and leave it for 10 minutes. Then come back and scrub it with a toothbrush in a circular motion. Finally, rinse away the dirt and mildew that was in your tile grout.

  • Sinks: When sinks become clogged, we often turn to products such as Drano to clear them out. Instead, you can use a cleaning solution that consists of one part baking soda and two parts white vinegar. Pour that down the drain and allow the solution to do its job for 15 minutes. This solution can also help get rid of foul smells emanating from the sink drain.

  • Tubs & Showers: Cleaning dirty tubs and showers can be done using a rag that you saturate with white vinegar and lightly sprinkle baking soda. Wipe down the fiberglass tub or shower, rinse, and rub dry for a spotless clean tub.

  • Toilet Bowls: Our toilets inevitably become dirty. That is where we relieve ourselves and there is no avoiding getting your toilet bowls dirty and stained. To clean your toilet bowl, pour undiluted white vinegar in and then heavily sprinkle baking soda. Then scrub the bowl down and let the solution soak for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes is up, flush it away and you are done.
