Among the busy days and vacations of summer, it’s important to keep your home clean and ready for the upcoming school year. Summer is a great time to clean out certain areas and keep everything fresh. These warm weather cleaning tips are a great way to stay ahead of your schedule.

Clean Your Grill

If you own a grill, you’re likely to use it during the summer for a barbecue or just a tasty meal. Be sure to clean it thoroughly, removing the grates and using an oven cleaner. Bacteria can build up over time and thrive in the summer heat if any food particles are left inside after using your grill if it’s not properly cleaned.

Flip Your Mattress

Avoid a buildup of dust and mites by flipping your mattress twice a year: once in the winter and once in the summer. Vacuum the surface of the mattress and box spring before flipping it to keep it fresh and free of allergens.

Clean the Air Conditioner

Your air conditioner is probably working hard during the summer, and it’s important to maintain it by cleaning or replacing the filter, as well as cleaning the coils and vents to help it more effectively keep your home cool during summer and remove allergens. You’ll keep it from working harder and save yourself some cash from your electricity bill.

Refresh Your Luggage

You might be travelling on vacation this summer, but even if you don’t it’s a good idea to clean out your luggage. Vacuum any suitcases thoroughly and use a solution of vinegar and water to remove any lingering musty smells.

Use Floor Mats

Placing floor mats in front of your home’s entrances will help dirt and mud from outdoor summer excursions from being tracked into the home. Remember to clean these mats regularly to minimize the pollen and other allergens from lingering.

Clean Seasonal Items

Take the time to clean out those items that see frequent use in the summer, such as pool toys, beach balls, and other water items. This is also a great time to clean your patio furniture, such as chairs and umbrellas. This will keep things fresh for upcoming gatherings and keep the work from piling up at the end of the season.

Clean Windows

Pollen and bugs are likely to collect on your home’s windows during the summer. Even if it’s too warm outside to enjoy an open window, cleaning the surface of windows and glass around your home will reduce allergens and maintain a fresh appeal.
